A dual-degree program with the State University of New York at Albany, UAlbany.

Starting in Fall 2024, MIU’s International Relations students will have the opportunity to enroll in a dual-degree program with the State University of New York at Albany, UAlbany.

Starting in Fall 2024, MIU’s International Relations students will have the opportunity to enroll in a dual-degree program with the State University of New York at Albany, UAlbany. At the end of the four-year program, participants will receive a Bachelor’s degree in IR from MIU and a BA in Political Science from UAlbany.

The agreement between the two universities was signed on February 26, 2024, by MIU’s president Oh Moon Kwon. It will provide MIU’s IR students with unique opportunities with long-term professional benefits.
The program involves the first two years of study at MIU’s School of International Studies and Communication (SISC). If a student meets the course and language requirements, they will then study the second two years at UAlbany, in the capital city of New York State. This location will provide students with the chance to experience life in a historic state capital, close to New York City and Boston, as well as internship opportunities with state and local governments.

A further feature of the program is the chance to continue for an extra year at UAlbany to obtain a Master’s degree in the university’s baccalaureate master’s program. In addition to the BA in Political Science, students could earn an MA in Political Science, a Master of International Affairs, or a Master of Public Administration with just one additional year of study.

Participating students will be required to meet the financial obligations of UAlbany, as well as the first two years at MIU. In return, they will be able to experience life as a student at one of America’s top public universities and receive not one, but two bachelor’s degrees.

We hope that this will be just the first dual degree agreement with UAlbany, with other departments following its success.
